A former British soldier who went to Ukraine to train troops is now in the clink, accused of being a double agent! Ross David Cutmore, a former squaddie in his early 40s from Scotland, stands accused of working for Vladimir Putin. What a twist!
Ukrainian intelligence claims Cutmore was providing the Kremlin's agents with guns and ammo for assassinations. The SBU spy service claims Cutmore arrived in Ukraine earlier this year, seemingly with good intentions: to train Ukrainian troops.
But hold your horses! They allege Putin's FSB, Russia's notorious spy agency, lured him to the dark side. The bait? Easy money, of course. Who can resist a quick buck, even if it means betraying your supposed allies?
Cutmore's alleged treachery was busted thanks to a joint effort. The SBU confirmed that British secret services helped them nab the suspected turncoat. Seems like MI6 still has some teeth!

Now, Cutmore is facing some serious jail time – up to 12 years! He was first pinched at his Kyiv home back in October, but details are only now surfacing. Talk about a slow-burn scandal!
Remember those dramatic scenes? Cutmore being hauled into court, his face covered like some two-bit criminal? Well, the cat's out of the bag now.
Sources say Cutmore wasn't just any soldier. He had military experience, including deployments in the Middle East. So, what went wrong? Where did it all go sideways?

According to the SBU, the Russian special services furnished Cutmore with the means to commit "targeted killings on the territory of Ukraine." The charges are heavy: reconnaissance, sabotage, and smuggling weapons for Russian assassins.
But it gets even darker. Ukrainian officials are investigating whether Cutmore was plotting bomb attacks. Can you imagine the carnage?
And if that's not enough, he allegedly leaked the locations of Ukrainian military training centers to the Russians, according to Ukrinform. Did he have no conscience?
He even received instructions on where to find a loaded pistol, complete with extra magazines. The man was practically gift-wrapped for a life behind bars!

The SBU claims Cutmore pocketed up to £5,000 for his alleged dirty work. Five grand! Is that all it takes to sell your soul these days?
But the story doesn't end there. Investigators are digging into whether Cutmore supplied the firearms used to assassinate Andriy Parubiy, a former Ukrainian parliament speaker and vocal critic of Russia, according to Ukrainian Pravda.
Parubiy was brutally murdered in broad daylight in Lviv back in August 2025. The assassination sent shockwaves through Ukraine and was celebrated by Russian hardliners. Was Cutmore responsible for this?

Cutmore is also suspected of providing the murder weapon used to kill Irina Farion, a Ukrainian nationalist and former MP, in July 2025. Farion had been a thorn in Moscow's side for years before she was gunned down.
And the alleged hit list doesn't stop there. A third assassination is also being linked to Cutmore. Demyan Hanul, a Ukrainian nationalist campaigner, was shot dead in Odesa in March after being a wanted man in Russia.
An SBU source confirmed that Cutmore is in custody and under investigation. "Cutmore is currently detained and in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.”
Cutmore is believed to hail from Dunfermline but has also lived in Rosyth. What will his neighbors say when they hear about this?

The investigation into Cutmore's alleged betrayal is ongoing. What other secrets will be uncovered?
