Hold onto your hats, folks, because even Hollywood royalty gets the first-date jitters! Scarlett Johansson, the mega-star who's battled aliens and rocked the red carpet, recently confessed to a rather relatable dating faux pas.
Turns out, even Black Widow can get spooked! On a recent appearance on the "Today" show, ScarJo dished on a first date with her now-husband, Colin Jost, that went a little sideways.
Rewind to 2017: Johansson, co-hosting with Jenna Bush Hager, recounted the "lovely date" that almost wasn't. Apparently, the concept of being asked out was foreign territory for the actress.

“Nobody had ever asked me out before,” she revealed. "I was a serial monogamist," she continued, "and I never got the sort of traditional like, ‘Hey, would you like to have dinner sometime?’” Talk about a bombshell!
So, what happened on this fateful date? Jost, ever the charming comedian, whisked her away to an Italian eatery in the East Village.
Dinner went well enough, but then came the curveball. "Afterward, he was like, ‘I’m meeting friends, let’s go grab a drink,’ and I hadn’t dated basically ever, so I was just like, ‘I have to go now.’ I need to leave,’” Johansson confessed.

Can you imagine? One minute you're enjoying pasta with Scarlett Johansson, the next she's making a beeline for the exit. The whole thing wrapped up in a swift hour and a half.
The actress bolted home, leaving her babysitter bewildered. “Why are you home?” the sitter asked, to which a flustered ScarJo replied, “I don’t know!”
The early departure didn't exactly leave Jost with the best impression. He later admitted, “I totally thought that was it. You were acting so weird.”

Scarlett, now 41, chalked it up to good old-fashioned panic. "I panicked. I don’t know," she laughed, reliving the mortifying moment. Haven't we all been there?
Jost, 43, didn’t let one awkward date deter him. In his 2020 memoir, "A Very Punchable Face," he reflected on his initial impression of Johansson from their first meeting on the "SNL" set back in 2006.
According to Jost, she was "beautiful, smart, sweet and intimidatingly sophisticated."
He playfully added, “She claims that she remembers thinking I was ‘cute’ but I know what I looked like and that’s not the word I would have used. (‘Shaggy’ would have been more generous. ‘Slovenly’ would have been more accurate,)" he joked.

Clearly, initial impressions can be deceiving! The couple's love story blossomed, and they got engaged after two years of dating.
They officially tied the knot in October 2020 in a low-key ceremony, proving that even a panicked first date can lead to a happily ever after.
Now, the power couple are parents to 4-year-old Cosmo. Johansson also shares co-parenting duties for her 11-year-old daughter, Rose, with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.

So, the next time you're on a date and feel the urge to bolt, remember even Scarlett Johansson has been there. Maybe stick it out for another half hour, you never know where it might lead!
Who knew that behind the fierce Black Widow persona was a woman just as prone to dating jitters as the rest of us?
Is it possible that the secret to their successful relationship is the fact that they laugh about that disastrous date?

And now, years later, ScarJo can laugh about it, offering hope to anyone who’s ever wanted to make a swift exit from a less-than-perfect date.
Maybe Jost's comedic charm and patience were the perfect antidote to Johansson's dating anxieties. Whatever the reason, it's a Hollywood love story for the ages!
The moral of the story? Even if you run out on your first date, you might just end up marrying them. Hollywood, folks!
